Melatonin is a hormone found in most traditional sleep supplements that helps with sleep timing. While melatonin can assist some with falling asleep, it does not directly improve sleep quality or duration. Possible downsides include morning grogginess, unpleasant dreaming, dependency, and impacts on other hormones. Due to its limited benefits and potential downsides, we will NEVER include melatonin in our formulation. Dr. Andrew Huberman discusses this at length on his podcast, Huberman Lab, especially in the first few episodes.

For a supplement to help with sleep, it needs to do TWO key things:​
1. Help you relax and counteract overstimulation.
2. Support your brain chemistry and hormones for Deep and REM sleep.

Collagen: The Relaxing Power of Glycine
Collagen is rich in glycine, an amino acid known for its calming effects on the brain. Glycine acts as an inhibitory neurotransmitter, reducing nerve activity and promoting relaxation. Studies have shown glycine can lower core body temperature, important for deep sleep, and reduce next-day fatigue.​

L-Theanine: Unwind and De-stress
L-Theanine, a compound found in green tea, has been widely studied for its ability to counteract overstimulation, promote relaxation, and reduce anxiety. It increases alpha brain waves, associated with relaxation and REM sleep.​

GABA: A Neurotransmitter for Tranquility
Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA) is a neurotransmitter that promotes relaxation and sleep by inhibiting nerve activity in the brain, helping to quiet the mind for deep, uninterrupted sleep.

Magnesium: The Mineral for Relaxation
Magnesium is an essential mineral involved in over 300 biochemical reactions in the body. It plays a significant role in muscle relaxation and the regulation of the sleep-wake cycle by supporting your natural production of melatonin.​

For best results, take it 30-60 minutes before bed. Experiment with the amount of water you use; more water will mellow the flavor and help it dissolve more quickly. Thirdzy is formulated for nightly use, and consistent users often see the greatest improvements in sleep quality.​

Many people notice a difference from the first night. L-Theanine and GABA have a gentle calming effect that becomes noticeable within 20 to 40 minutes. With consistent use, sleep quality and recovery can continue to improve over several weeks. For those deficient in magnesium, there may be a loading phase to reach ideal levels. Joint and muscle benefits from collagen are often noticeable after 4 to 12 weeks, with anti-inflammatory effects potentially improving soreness sooner.

Thirdzy contains ingredients dosed in clinically relevant amounts, meaning we use quantities shown in scientific studies to promote sleep and improve sleep quality. However, every sleep challenge is unique. Our products are designed to support better sleep quality and recovery but are not intended to treat or cure any disease or pathology. If you have any medical conditions or are taking medication, we recommend consulting your doctor about your best options.​

Besides helping with sleep quality, the collagen and magnesium in Thirdzy support the natural regeneration processes throughout your body following physical activity. Benefits include joint and bone health, improved muscle recovery, hydration, electrolyte balance, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, and healthier skin, hair, and nails.​

Non active ingredients include: 

• Malic acid and natural flavors (for taste)
• Stevia leaf extract (for sweetness)
• Silicon dioxide (to prevent clumping)
• Beet root powder (for color)

No. Thirdzy is all-natural and does not lead to dependency. It does not contain melatonin, so it does not replace your own production of sleep hormones. It can be used as often as needed without concern about dependency. Some users report that their sleep improves even on nights they don't take it, as many ingredients work systemically, not just before bedtime.​

Yes. Even if you are a strong sleeper, the functional ingredients in Thirdzy provide nutrients that support better repair and recovery of joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and bones. Magnesium, L-Theanine, and GABA also help calm your nervous system for better recovery scores on sleep trackers and support hydration and electrolyte balance.​

Maybe. Hormonal changes during menopause can significantly affect many body processes, including sleep. Since every person is unique, we cannot promise that Thirdzy will "fix" your sleep. However, many menopausal and perimenopausal women have found it helpful.

There aren't enough studies on our ingredients during pregnancy for us to say it's a safe option. Please consult your primary healthcare practitioner, who may have experience with pregnant clients using these ingredients safely.​

It depends on how much of a purest you are around fasting. Some people will say that anything other than water isn't fasting.

However, if you're fasting because you're trying to get the metabolic benefits of not having fluctuations in your blood sugar and insulin levels, then 1 scoop of Thirdzy is going to have very little impact on your fast. There is no sugar and only 9g of protein (in the 10g of collagen) - which is not enough to push your body out of a metabolically fasting state. 

We do not recommend using Thirdzy while under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.

While having a drink with dinner and then taking your Thirdzy is very unlikely to be a problem. Your liver processes both natural supplements and alcohol (as well as other over the counter and pharmaceutical substances). Having any combination of substances in your blood will slow down their metabolism, increasing the time that they are in your body.

Alcohol also exerts significant negative effects on your sleep quality – particularly REM sleep – that will counter the positive benefits of Thirdzy.

The 'consult a health care provider for use beyond 4 weeks' statement is something that Health Canada requires. Nearly all supplements - even mutivitamins and minerals, in Canada have some form of 'consult a health practitioner for use beyond x timeframe.' 

There is not a specific reason for the 4 week timeline - none of the ingredients show negative effects after use of longer durations. In fact, many of the studies on the ingredients use intervention timelines of 12 weeks.

Nothing to worry about. Shipping carriers can prematurely mark packages as delivered or it might have been dropped off at a front desk or mailroom.
